Tigerair Australia is using the summer travel market to woo Canberra holidaymakers with a $1 fare offer on the return leg of flights to Brisbane and Melbourne.

The low-cost subsidiary of Virgin Australia began its Melbourne flights in December last year and its Brisbane fights just a month ago in September and is offering aggressively discounted fares as part of a national campaign which began on Wednesday.
There are only 300 tickets for the Canberra to Melbourne return flights and 200 for Brisbane that are offered at the $1 price.
The fares are for travel between late January and late March in 2018 and need to be the return leg of flights. The cheapest outbound flight is $99 for Melbourne and $109 for Brisbane.
The last return for $1 promotion in May sold out within five hours.
There are more than 13,000 $1 fares available nationally and it runs until noon on Saturday.
