The ACT continues to lead the nation in the take-up rate for the national broadband network fibre. Almost 7000 premises in the ACT are using the network, according to figures released on Thursday by NBN Co.

The optic fibre passes 14,480 properties in the ACT. Of these, 6868 are already using the network - a take-up rate of 48 per cent.
A spokesman said all existing contracts were being continued, despite NBN Co removing details of progress in suburbs from its rollout map. A revised map, published in October, shows Gungahlin, Watson and West Macgregor connected, but all other northside areas due to have the fibre installed now have no timetable.
While Labor planned to install high-speed fibre to the home, the Coalition plans to terminate the fibre in a cabinet on the street, and use the existing copper cable to complete the connection.
NBN Co says that across the nation, the network passed an extra 8270 premises in the week ending December 1. There are now 120,789 premises using the network's services across all technologies.
