A man who fled police and ran through a red light caused a two-car crash in Cook on Monday afternoon that hospitalised both drivers and delayed heavy traffic.

The incident occured not long after an unmarked police car pulled over a Toyota Camry at the intersection of William Hovell Drive near Bindubi Street in Aranda at about 2pm.
When the police officer left his car, the driver accelerated and fled, turning into Bindubi Street.
The police officer returned to his car and attempted to follow the Toyota but was caught in heavy traffic.
The fleeing motorist drove through a red light at the Bindubi Street and Lyttleton Crescent intersection and collided with a white Mazda 3.
ACT Ambulance paramedics treated the male driver of the Toyota Camry for serious leg and head injuries before taking him to the Canberra Hospital for treatment.
The female driver of the other car was also transported to hospital with minor injuries.
There were no passengers in either car.
The collision happened around 2pm on Bindubi St near the intersection with Lyttleton and Bandjalong Crescents in the northbound lane.
Bindubi Street was closed in both directions between Lyttleton Crescent and Redfern Street, with traffic diverted through Cook.
ACT Policing's Collision Investigations and Reconstruction Team attended the incident and an investigation is ongoing.
