A freedom of information request lodged with the University of Canberra was denied, whereas a similar request lodged with the Australian National University resulted in a potential bill of $2567.50.
The requests sought information on reports of sexual assault and sexual harassment on campus over the past five years.
Media reports published during that period include coverage of rape charges laid relating to alleged incidents in student accommodation.
Other reports detailed sexual harassment carried out online via a Facebook page allowing University of Canberra students to publicly "rate" the sexual abilities of their lovers without their knowledge.
The ACT Government and the Canberra Rape Crisis Centre have previously collaborated to highlight incidents of sexual assault and harassment on Canberra campuses following a national survey in 2012, which revealed 17 per cent of the 1500 respondents had experienced rape and 25 per cent had had an unwanted physical contact of a sexual nature.
The Canberra Times has lodged an altered request the University of Canberra, which denied the initial application due to the required resources estimated to examine more than 20,000 reports collected through the university's three counselling services.
An additional request will also be lodged with the Australian National University, after the initial application was withdrawn due to time constraints.
No information which would identify an individual student or former student was sought.
