David Cross made his way through the throng after being the first spinner inside the tent.
The Griffith dad said he was thrilled to be in the thick of the atmosphere with his sons by his side.
"Its great to have a crowd around you like that," he said. "Everyone has been talking about the rain, but I just heard a comment 'the diggers went through worse than this so we will make do."
Event organiser Janette Newham said her team of 14 volunteers had been very busy restocking the bar since the first faces turned up before dawn.
"It was about 4.10 this morning when the first drink was served," she said. "Its more or less double the numbers we usually see. We had to order about $20,000 worth of stock for the day."
For those that didn't get their fill of two-up before everything wrapped up at 6pm, there was more two-up action during the halftime of the Anzac Day AFL clash between the GWS Giants and the Gold Coast Suns.
