The officer sustained minor facial injuries as a result of the assault.
At 3.50am members of ACT Policing’s Regional Targeting Team intervened in a verbal argument outside Mooseheads in Civic, between the woman and security from the licenced premise.
Police said they approached the woman and asked her to stop arguing with security staff. She then confronted police in an aggressive manner, punching an officer in the face after she refused to comply with the officers’ direction.
The woman was taken into custody and to the ACT Watch House. She has been charged with common assault and will face the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date.
