A year after they went up, fences erected for construction work at Weston Park will start to come down, possibly by later this month, but others will remain until early in the new year.

The fences went up last October, to allow for work including the construction of a shared pedestrian-cycle path. But the project was halted in May when the company contracted to do the work, Queanbeyan outfit Tread Lightly Earthmoving, was placed into administration.
Territory and Municipal Services retendered the project and new contractor Pyramid Constructions restarted work on September 23.
The work includes improvements to the car park at Kurrajong Point, construction of a shared pedestrian-cycle perimeter path and modifications to the play pond, including replacements for the wooden bridges and installation of artworks by Tharwa designer Myles Gostelow.
Parks and Conservation senior environmental planning officer Ros Ransome said the directorate was disappointed the initial contractor could not finish the work and that delays were unavoidable, but the upgrade would be ''worth the wait''.
The total cost of the upgrade has been put at $1.6 million.
Sections of the park will be reopened as the work is finished.
The first stage will be the section behind Yarralumla Nursery linking the existing cycle path to the play-space area. This was anticipated to be opened by the end of this month or early next month, Ms Ransome said, and all work was due to be finished early in the new year.
Ms Ransome said the new contractor would continue to work over summer to get it done. ''They're doing a great job and really pushing it out,'' she said.
