Tarrant was recognised as the Roos' best performer of the season with 263 votes, ahead of midfielders Jack Ziebell (257) and Sam Gibson (234).

Unrestricted free agent Daniel Wells, who is rumoured to have captured the interest of other clubs, came in fourth (221). The 31-year-old has said he would not be telling North of his intentions until after the best-and-fairest dinner.

With just four votes fewer than Wells, Harvey rounded out the top-five.

North Melbourne decided not to re-sign Harvey and fellow veterans Drew Petrie, Michael Firrito and Nick Dal Santo for another season and informed the media before the Roos ill-fated finals campaign.

Of the four Harvey, 38, was in the best form, although Dal Santo also appeared in North's top-10 players (seventh).

When he made the announcement, coach Brad Scott said de-listing the club stalwarts had been a "horrific" decision to make, but that it was important to give the younger 'Roos players more opportunities.

Both Harvey and Dal Santo appear to be open to playing on at other clubs in 2017 if they are offered the opportunity.

Nineteen-year-old Ryan Clarke appeared in just six senior games in 2016 but was recognised as the club's best young player.

Jamie Macmillan was named best clubman and Ed Vickers-Willis, who had a strong year in the VFL, was given the Peter Scanlon Community Award for the many hours of his own time he spend helping young students as part of North's study support program.
