He has averaged 26 possessions and 5.6 tackles a match.
A cousin of suspended Essendon captain Jobe Watson, Ross was pick 25 in the 2011 national draft.
"The coaching staff have built up over the last two or three years, we've got a really exciting young list, we've made a fair bit of our games this year, barring the weekend, so it was a pretty easy decision to sign on knowing what's in front of us," Ross said in a statement.
"I've been able to get some continuity in my game this year purely based on the pre-season I had. I was out there day-in, day-out working with the players and the coaching staff."
The Saints' chief operating officer Ameet Bains said Ross would play a key part in the team's efforts to reach a finals series. "At 23 and in his fifth season, Seb's progress in 2016 has been pleasing, especially in his performances against quality opposition," he said.
