Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson, too, remains part of a continuing police investigation over his confrontation with rowdy football fans near Adelaide Oval in April.
Tasmanian police confirmed on Tuesday afternoon that officers were still looking into the incident involving Scott and a security guard at Blundstone Arena in Hobart on May 9.
North Melbourne came away with a 35-point win over Richmond, but a security guard at the ground accused Scott of kicking and abusing him.
The coach will take four weeks off to have back surgery for a prolapsed disc, which he said was causing him intense pain.
He is expected to be back by round 15.
Alastair Clarkson was interviewed in May by South Australian police over his role in a confrontation near Adelaide Oval with a group of Port Power fans.
Video appears to show Clarkson pushing a fan, after the man, walking very closely to him, yelled "Go the Power".
A police spokesperson said on Tuesday the matter was still under investigation and had not been finalised.
