Man, 77, drowns at Pine Island

About 2.50pm, the man failed to surface while swimming, with emergency services called a short time later.

General duties police officers and ACT Fire and Rescue searched the area where the man had been swimming, subsequently finding him.

He was confirmed dead by ambulance officers at the scene.

The incident is not suspicious and ACT Policing would prepare a report for the coroner, police said in a statement.
