James Daniels (Letters, October 12) uses lack of residential density in Canberra to support his anti-light-rail position, stating Canberra has a population density of 429 per square kilometre compared with Zurich at 4400/sqkm and Frankfurt at 2800/sqkm. Any discussion about density and light rail must relate to the walkable corridor on either side of a light-rail line, not the area of the whole city, which in Canberra's case includes large areas of inner hills, nature reserves and lakes.
