Land tax can be unfair

No tax is popular; a tax that increases faster than prices may cause a stir, but a tax that starts eclipsing incomes is going to end badly for someone. And that "someone" won't necessarily be the person being taxed. Kirsten Lawson and Markus Mannheim ("Rates Surging in the Leafy Suburbs", June 5, p1) have pretty much belled the cat on the causes and extent of escalating rates and land taxes in the ACT.
