There were about 14 registered bidders for the auction of the medium density sites.

The largest block of almost 9000 square metres sold for $5.5 million for the development of between 36-63 dwellings.

Two further sites for up to 40 and 44 dwellings went for $3.6 million and $3.8 million.

A boutique corner block offering a maximum of 15 dwellings sold for $1.75 million.

Land Development Agency director of sales Clint Peters said the $14.65 million in sales was a strong result for the territory and a show of confidence in the market.

He said there was continued strong interest in the suburb because of its location and proximity to universities, shops, the city and hospitals.

The remainder of multi-unit sites in stage one of the suburb will be released this financial year with further sites in stage two set down for 2017/18.

Developer Dennis Katavic, who purchased the smallest block of land, said it was the location of the suburb that had initially attracted his interest.

But he said the scarcity of land in the territory meant there was a lot of competition for any blocks offered.

Mr Katavic, from Antalija Constructions, bid for all four of the blocks and has three other multi-unit sites on Flemington Road.

"The market seems to be still positive – there's a lot of interest from investors and first home buyers," he said.

Mr Katavic said he planned to build a boutique unit development at the Lawson site.

The Land Development Agency sold all the single blocks of land in the suburb at two auction events in December and June for $81 million.

Mr Peters said the initial settlements would occur early next year so the suburb's first residents would move in by the middle of 2015.

Construction on the estate work is progressing according to plan, he said.
