Glass fellowship

Canberra Glassworks is seeking applications from professional artists working with contemporary glass for its new Creative Fellowship program. "The purpose of the Creative Fellowship is to foster a mutually beneficial exchange of ideas and professional practice within the Glassworks and the wider community. The Creative Fellow will be provided with a dedicated studio space to work from at the world-class Canberra Glassworks facility for an extended period of between 6 – 12 months. They will also be provided with a cash stipend of $20,000 and free access to the facilities and equipment (with very few limitations) for the term of the Creative Fellowship." Raw and honest at South Hill

Canberra artist Karen Green has a collection of "unromantic, raw and honest" paintings showing in Goulburn this month, recording the many places she has occupied. "Commenting on issues of concern to her and celebrating women, Karen also invites us to explore her relationship with her children and her response to domesticity," says the gallery.

Form and Dysfunction at the Front

Local artists Skye Gallagher and Gosia Pilat are showing eclectic works at The Front in Lyneham this month. Gallagher's organic ceramic installation is "an exploration of repetition and form. Skye is fascinated by the transformations that porcelain undergoes throughout its many stages of creation, in particular the simultaneous fragility and potential robustness". And Pilat continues her ongoing fascination with animals as subjects. "The work explores how animals might perceive their lives and the world around them, aiming to make the shared experiences of animals relatable to humans." Daydreams in Watson

The Tin Shed Art Group is showing its annual exhibition at Watson Arts Centre for the next two weeks, with the most versatile – and enticing – theme imaginable: daydreams. "As you would expect from this long-established art group, styles and approaches vary widely," says the guff. "Starting points range from childhood's mythical creatures, escaping the confines of domesticity, dust dragons, fishin' instead o' wishin', and bridal dreams of love to reflections on human angst, nightmares and wandering in dreamy landscapes." Pulsing at CMAG

There's a fascinating show on at CMAG – Pulse: Reflections on the body is a show, performance program and a series of floor-talks incorporating the work of 27 contemporary Australian artists – some established, others emerging. "The artists included each reflect on the body and its functions as physical as well as spiritual phenomena. Their work is a reflection on the body from the inside out," says curator Mark Bayly. "Some focus on system failure and our eventual mortality, while for others, the body is a vehicle for contemplation of an interior, or spiritual, life. Others respond to the challenge of living out personal cultural and sexual journeys in societies where values such as tolerance and inclusiveness cannot be taken for granted."
