Last week Gibson had pledged to play a Canberra show as soon as he could to thank the capital for its support.
On Tuesday afternoon he confirmed he will be playing a show at The Front Gallery in Lyneham on Thursday with NSW south coast artist Timothy Bowen.
“My super talented friend Timothy James Bowen will also be performing and it's set to cracker of a night! It is an ALL ages gig and the night starts at 7.30pm! See you all there,” Gibson posted on his Facebook page.
Gibson told The Canberra Times last week that he wasn’t disappointed when he missed out on advancing to the next round of the show, and instead planned to get straight back out singing.
“All you need is a bit of perspective – the top 12 of The Voice Australia, it’s been a massive launching pad to my career. All I’ve got to do now is just sing and get out there and work my ass off,” he said.
“You’ve only got a short period now where people will actually know who you are. If you don’t jump on that wagon, you’re going to lose it.
“I feel more comfortable than I’ve ever felt on a stage like that. I feel like anything’s possible – it sounds clichéd, but I really feel that with this exposure, if I utilize this right now, the sky’s the limit. Just to believe in myself is the biggest lesson for me, and to not let everything get to your head.”
Owner of The Front Paul Jamieson said he didn’t actually watch The Voice and didn’t know too much about Gibson, but was happy to have him come along to play with Tim Bowen who approached the venue about hosting the gig.
“They’re doing the rounds together, they’re both going to do a set each,” he said. “We’ve got a fair few performers for the year who’ve got a bit of a name, and he’s just one of them.”
