The Greens have promised $26 million to build wetlands in the Tuggeranong, Yarralumla Creek and Ginnenderra Creek catchments, using Commonwealth funding designated for environmental projects in the ACT.
The Greens would establish a $2 million water care fund to clean up the territory's water ways and educate Canberrans about water protection.
The party would also spend $1.1 million over four years on willow management for Lake Burely Griffin and $185,000 over four years to reduce carp populations in the territory's lakes.
Greens MLA Shane Rattenbury said the party would also develop a management plan for the Molonglo catchment.
“The Greens are committed to restoring the health of Canberra's lakes and waterways and protecting this valuable community resource,” he said.
