Canberrans forgot their washing, cycled off route, and nearly burnt their dinners on Monday night after they were distracted by a magnificent light show before an underwhelming rain shower.

The sky was painted in pinks and gold as the storm clouds rumbled past, but just 4 milimetres of rain was recorded at Canberra airport on Monday.
Clouds began gathering after 4pm in the afternoon, turning pink and purple by sunset.
Later on in the evening, lightning spooked labradoodles, stunned social media and stirred the city's snappers into a frenzy.
The subsequent shower was small relief after rain fell on only five days in November, half the normal rate.
The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting warm weather to last until the weekend, despite the thunderstorms and showers predicted for the ACT.
While Tuesday is expected to remain dry, there is a high chance of rain and some chance of a thunderstorm on Wednesday with temperatures expected to hit 33 degrees, according to the Bureau.
Then there is likely to be more rain with a chance of a storm on Thursday and Friday with tops of 29 and 28 expected respectively.
It will get slightly cooler on Saturday when a top of 25 degrees and possible showers are expected. Sunday is forecast to be 24 degrees, with showers likely and an afternoon storm possible.
