Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has won praise from incoming Queensland senator Pauline Hanson after what she described as a constructive meeting between the pair on Monday night.

The One Nation leader has previously criticised Mr Turnbull for his comments during the federal election campaign that she was "not a welcome presence" in Australian politics.
On Tuesday she released a video telling supporters she had Mr Turnbull's respect after the pair discussed policies at the meeting in Sydney.
Ms Hanson said her office has been inundated with calls and emails since her July 2 election victory.
"He asked for it, and I attended," Ms Hanson said.
"It was quite interesting and he was very gracious and opened with congratulations on my win, which I appreciated.
"I did most of the talking and I raised the issues with him about the motorsport precinct at Townsville ... about dredging in Cairns for the port, for ships to come in [and] tourism, creating jobs, I spoke about my apprenticeship scheme to get youth employment going.
"There was quite a few other issues as well, and the family law court which is huge on my agenda."
Ms Hanson said she was very grateful for Mr Turnbull's attention and his offer of access to ministers and government staff for information to help One Nation "make the right decisions" on behalf of her supporters and constituents.
The party could end up with as many as three members in the Senate, representing Queensland, NSW and Western Australia.
"He took note of everything I said and was very interested in my opinion," Ms Hanson said.
"I feel now I have been listened to and my position as senator is respected and that's all I want, is to be a voice for you."
"I feel he is prepared to listen to me."
On Monday night, Treasurer Scott Morrison said the government had started reaching out to crossbench senators, including Ms Hanson, broadcaster Derryn Hinch and Nick Xenophon.
"Well we've started that process and that will continue in the weeks ahead and it's some weeks yet before the Parliament returns and I have some of those meetings further scheduled for later this week.
"I think it's important to be constructive, pragmatic and engaging on these issues and to provide more information for a lot of senators who'll be coming in, and that count is still yet to be finalised, to understand the issues that are there and help them make the decisions they need to make," Mr Morrison said.
On Sunday Attorney-General George Brandis said Ms Hanson's views on Islam and immigration are "unhelpful" and "wrong" but that it would be ludicrous for the government to ignore her.
