"I think in a democracy it is always good for people to put their hand up but I think the fact that no one did suggests that broadly the party was comfortable with the job I have been doing," he said.
"I've had a lot of feedback about my performance during the last couple of years and I think the party has been happy.
"Certainly they want me to continue to be a strong advocate for Canberra and for the Liberal Party."
Senator Seselja said his achievements included the ongoing reform of the National Capital Authority and having the Department of Social Services stay in Tuggeranong.
The smooth preselection is a stark contrast to the angst in the party before the last election, when he won preselection against long-term senator Gary Humphries.
