NBN Co's acquisition of TransACT's fibre-to-the-premises network should clear up confusion in new suburbs in Canberra's north about access to the high speed infrastructure.

Gungahlin Community Council president Ewan Brown said previously some new areas weren't going to be covered by the NBN because they were covered by TransACT services.
TransACT had an exemption from being involved in the NBN.
"Now it means every thing is thrown into the same melting pot and people will be able to connect via either the TransACT fibre or the NBN fibre."
NBN Co will pay iiNet $9 million for the fibre-to-the-premises network, which covers about 8,500 premises, and access to other infrastructure.
NBN will also buy network assets planned or under construction covering another 4,500 premises.
Mr Brown said people locked into TransACT fibre contracts may not be able to exercise their choice of other ISP providers until those contracts had expired.
He said further down the track the deal would offer TransACT customers opportunities from a whole range of service providers.
In a statement NBN chief executive Mike Quigley said the acquisition would reduce construction costs and limit community disruption and bring forward the chance to earn revenues.
NBN Co would integrate the TransACT FTTP network with the NBN. Residents' equipment in their home would be swapped over when a home or business owner ordered an NBN-enabled service through their preferred service provider.
"TransACT will continue to complete construction of pit-and-pipe infrastructure in a number of new estates where developer agreements are in place until 2017, and transfer ownership to NBN Co at no charge, for the installation of fibre," Mr Quigley said.
Mr Brown said the NBN rollout was still slow and there were teething problems although he was encouraged to hear Ngunnawal would be ready from June 1.
"People aren't getting enough information where to locate the entry point to their home, what sort of extra equipment they need, whether they need a wireless router, how to cable up all their various devices.
"The terminology says fibre-to-the home. But a lot of sub-contractors are saying 'we're only putting it on garages', even detached garages, which means the home owner has to find some way of getting the signals to all equipment in the house."
Mr Brown said subtle changes were missing from information. Yet people were not turning up in droves to digital hub sessions.
"We are finding a few little niggles. Contractors are turning up, if they are finding it too hard they say they have too many jobs on and do something else and say they'll come back later."
