Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge have arrived in New York to a celebrity welcome, with screaming crowds braving a chilly 1 degree evening to catch a glimpse of the royals and their baby bump.

However, not everyone is happy to see them.
Before the future King's arrival, members of the US press were up in arms about the dress code stipulations set by Buckingham Palace for working media at official engagements.
Men are encouraged to wear a suit and tie, while women should don a pant or skirt suit.
The British monarchy's official website also states: "Those wearing jeans or trainers will not be admitted and casually-dressed members of the media will be turned away. This will also apply to technicians."
"Why should the United States' press corps - who barely bother to brush the muffin crumbs off their polo shirts before lobbing questions at the President of the United States - schlep extra pieces of clothing to work just so they can make small talk with a (perfectly nice-seeming) British air ambulance pilot in training and a former chain-store accessories buyer," New York Magazine opined.
The couple, who have travelled to the Big Apple without one-year-old Prince George, will undertake 10 official engagements during the three-day visit and will follow predominantly separate itineraries.
They were greeted by a throng of paparazzi upon their arrival at the Carlyle Hotel. The Duchess wore a burgundy coat by maternity label Seraphine, and later headed to a private dinner for the American chapter of the Royal Foundation, the charity organisation of the Duke, Duchess and Prince Harry.
William will then head to Washington to meet US President Barack Obama and present a key-note address at the World Bank before attending a reception at the British Consulate with Hillary and Chelsea Clinton, to honour his conservation work with Tusk and United for Wildlife.
Meanwhile Catherine will be hosted by Chirlane McCray, the wife and closest adviser of New York mayor Bill de Blasio. The pair will visit a clinic that provides mental health services for impoverished children, an issue close to McCray's heart, whose 19-year-old daughter Chiara has publicly spoken about her struggles with depression and substance abuse.
The Duchess will also meet students in Harlem and will wrap gifts at a Child Development Centre before attending a lunch at the British Consulate for ex-pats involved in the culture, arts and hospitality industries.
William and Catherine will then go to an NBA game at the Barclays Centre, in Brooklyn, between the Brooklyn Nets and the Cleveland Cavaliers. They will reportedly meet Beyonce and Jay Z, a former minority owner of the Nets, at the game.
On the final day of the tour the couple will visit the 9/11 memorial, the Empire State Building (which was lit up with the colours of the Union Jack for their arrival on Sunday night) and a black-tie gala dinner at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
