Unfortunately it took what the couple thought to be a "balderdash article" published by News Corp Australia for the private pair to break their silence.
"My sons [sic] middle name IS a respectful nod to my late father, whose nickname was affectionately, Zot," Worthington is believed to have posted on Bingle's official social media platforms on Saturday.
"I wish Australian journalism ... would rethink employing people who have some respect, and integrity, who either fact check or not comment – rather than just print the juvenile, spurious ramblings of some pseudo journalist ... " the post continued.
The couple's first public comment regarding the recent birth of their first child was in relation to an opinion piece written by The Daily Telegraph's Annette Sharp with the headline, "Lara Bingle doesn't give a zot for baby name traditions".
"Zot, online urban dictionaries tell us, means to "zap, destroy, kill" and, in Ontario, Canada, is a term used to define a spitball thrown at a ceiling. Zot is a travesty – a mere verbal scribbling. It's up there with Jermajesty Jackson, Audio Clayton and Tu Morrow in a category of cruel and unusual punishments," Sharp wrote.
The feature then went on chronicle Bingle's sentimental tattoos and pointed out that the 27-year-old model and business woman lost her father Graham to bowel cancer in 2009.
"This little boy of yours, this little Rocket Zot, he's your legacy. This is your chance to leave a lasting tribute to your father, because one day, too soon, you and that pretty skin of yours will be gone. That middle name ... don't you want to reconsider?
"How about Rocket Graham? Or, for cool effect, Ronny Graham, and you can nickname him "Rocket", that means so much to you both?" Sharp offered to the new mum who removed any evidence of her relationship with Worthington from social media to shield her unborn child from media scrunity.
Neither Bingle nor Worthington, who began dating in 2013, have ever made an official statement about the birth, let alone their pregnancy.
Rumours began in July last year, with Woman's Day magazine saying Bingle must be preggers as she "was spotted in a series of loose-fitting outfits and appearing self-conscious about her tummy".
It wasn't until January that OK and Woman's Day obtained photos showing her unmistakable baby bump.
Bingle, who has changed her Instagram name to Lara Bingle Worthington, is also believed to have married her boyfriend, who starred in Avatar.
Fairfax Media has reached out on numerous occasions to Bingle's representative. Every request for a comment regarding the couple's alleged marriage, pregnancy and subsequent birth of baby Rocket have been met with a polite, "No comment".
