About 2000 motorcyclists converged on Canberra on Saturday to pay tribute to the service and sacrifice of Australian police officers during the annual Wall to Wall police remembrance ride.

Motorcyclists took off from Canberra and headed to Goulburn on Saturday morning, before returning to Exhibition Park. They then travelled down Northbourne Avenue and across Commonwealth Avenue bridge to take part in a ceremony at the national police memorial.
AFP sergeant Dale Cooper said while the weather was shocking, it was a great event to be part of.
Sergeant Cooper co-ordinated the morning ride from Canberra to the police academy at Goulburn. He was one of 1800 registered riders for this year's event, which aimed to raise $140,000 for police legatees.
"I've been involved since the inception of the ride," Sergeant Cooper said.
"I've been in the AFP for 35 years, so I know the members that have passed away previously, through the Jakarta aeroplane crash and we all know [murdered Canberra police chief] Colin Winchester.
"I know most of the recent deaths, the incumbents on the Wall of Remembrance, so there is a personal touch there."
The annual Wall to Wall Ride brings sworn and unsworn, serving and retired police officers, plus their friends and family, from across the country and even overseas together in Canberra at the national Police Wall of Remembrance on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin.
Each state hosts a ceremony in which a baton is blessed in the lead up to the day. The baton is then brought to Canberra to be blessed by the police chaplain.
Sergeant Cooper said the ACT baton was held by the 13-year-old son of an ACT police officer who recently died.
"He's carrying the baton with his mother and grandfather. He will be presenting the baton on behalf of the ACT," Sergeant Cooper said.
