BALLOONS
6am: The Canberra Balloon Spectacular will fill the skies with an array of balloons that this year include Angry Birds and Yoda balloons. On the lawns of Old Parliament House. Free for spectators. Early risers can enjoy delicious hot breakfasts served by the Belconnen Lions Club, with all proceeds going back to the Canberra community. Until March 15. A WILDE TIME
2pm: Canberra Rep presents Oscar Wilde's comedy The Importance of Being Earnest at Theatre 3, off Ellery Crescent, Acton. Also 8pm. Tickets $40/$35 at the venue one hour before the show.
LANTERN FESTIVAL
6pm: The Lantern Festival is the final event of Chinese New Year. The Beijing Garden, Lennox Gardens, Flynn Place, Yarralumla is decorated with Chinese Lanterns and lights and there are performances of Chinese traditional music, children's dances, martial arts, lion dance, a hand-made lantern competition and a lantern parade. Free entry. Bring your own lanterns or buy one there. Prizes for best handmade lanterns. Contact Carol Keil on 62478231.

6pm: Enlighten Canberra 2015 presents a wide range of activities and events in the Parliamentary Triangle including the Night Noodle Markets, light shows, and performances. Website: enlightencanberra.com.au.
LIGHTS! CANBERRA! ACTION!
7.30pm: In the Lights! Canberra! Action! festival, filmmakers are given a list of 10 items to include in their movie, with only 10 days to shoot, edit and produce a seven-minute film themed Brilliant Possibilities. The screening of the top 12 finalists will take place in the Senate Rose Gardens at the Museum of Australian Democracy, with the award winners announced immediately after the screening. Admission is free.

8pm: The Andrew Lloyd Webber-Tim Rice musical Evita – featuring the song Don't Cry For Me Argentina – is being presented at Erindale Theatre, McBryde Crescent, Wanniassa, by Canberra Philharmonic Society. Tickets $25-$49. Bookings: philo.org.au.

HORSE STORY
9am: Spirited: Australia's Horse Story is in its final days at the National Museum of Australia. This exhibition is about the close bonds that have developed between humans and horses in the history of Australia. Entry $15/$12 (children under 16 free when accompanied by an adult).
FEMALES ON FORM
6pm: Females on Form, presented in conjunction with International Women's Day and local charities Canberra Endometriosis Centre and Beryl Women Inc, is a cabaret celebrating women's rights. It's on at the Pavilion Hotel, 242 Northbourne Avenue, Dickson. Tickets $75 dinner and show, $30 show only, $90 VIP dinner and show (all plus booking fee). ANZAC TRIBUTE
7.30pm: Canberra's Anzac Centenary Tribute concert will begin with a traditional "Beating Retreat" ceremony featuring Australia's Federation Guard and the combined bands of the Australian Defence Force featuring the Royal Australian Navy, the Australian Army and the Royal Australian Air Force bands. The Canberra Symphony Orchestra will then present a program of music culminating with Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture performed alongside the combined bands of the Australian Defence Force, with guns fired over Lake Burley Griffin.This free event is on at Patrick White Lawns in front of the National Library of Australia.
