Ms Prichard has opened Jindii Eco Spa in the Australian National Botanic Gardens, offering beauty treatments inspired by traditional indigenous knowledge.

"Essentially what we are doing is engaging with and celebrating the natural beauty that surrounds us here at the ANBG," she said.

The spa has been taking clients since mid January but will officially open on Friday. Ms Prichard said the feedback had been good and bookings had been streaming in. The idea of a beauty spa in the middle of the lush gardens appears to have struck a chord with many people.

"The thing that people are saying most is 'Ah, of course, it just makes perfect sense - why wouldn't you have a spa at the Botanic Gardens.' It really is a no brainer for people," Ms Prichard said.

There is lunchtime yoga and mindfulness practice during the week and Ms Prichard plans to eventually offer yoga on the education lawns at the garden.

The new spa features hydro therapy spas, a yoga room and is decorated with plenty of timber, earth colours and floral accents.

Jindii was previously based in Weston Creek and took up a business lease on an office space in the main building at the gardens.

"It's all about being physically well and spiritually well and just allowing yourself time to be. And a couple of my clients laughed at me when I said to them we need to slow down a bit and be a bit gentler and remember we are human beings and not human doings," she said.

Ms Prichard said she and her team were tucked into a spot at the bottom of the Tasmanian rainforest. "It's beautiful because there's a physical coming down into the space. People are leaving their busy lives at the top of the stairs," she said.

And that's not all they'll be able to leave behind. Ms Prichard also plans to partner with a yoga guru and a mindfulness instructor to create wellness retreats for stressed out Canberrans.
