But there's more to this high-vis campaign than just a free snag.

There were also free health check-ups, an on-site physio, skin cancer checks and access to OzHelp's mental well-being support team.

Tradies Health Month raises awareness around the risks faced by those working in trade occupations, their families, employers and the wider community.

OzHelp CEO Tony Holland said although there had been improvements, the sector still has among the highest health and safety issues of any other in Australia.

Mr Holland said tradies' health was often worse because it was an industry dominated by men who were often reluctant to seek medical help; it was a stressful and physically-demanding job and there was also a sense of bravado in the industry - an "I'm okay, don't worry about me jack" kind of attitude. Even tradies taking simple measures such as doing stretches before work could save their back into the future - and help their long-term mental wellbeing.

"It is a known fact that when it comes to health, especially mental health, people who work in trades are at greater risk, while also being far less likely to reach out and seek the support or help they need," he said.

"We've seen people who are 50 years old and never been to the doctor and that is extremely dangerous."

"That is why for Tradies Health Month, we have banded together with some great organisations such as the Cancer Council and Heart Foundation, to try and tackle this issue head on - allowing tradies access to free health check-ups and information for ongoing support."
