The ACT's vocational education providers have received a boost in student numbers this year, with a higher number of teenagers enrolling in formal education.

The latest Australian Bureau of Statistics Education and Work tables, collected in May but released publicly late last month, showed more than a fifth of all Canberrans, or 22.3 per cent, were taking part in some form of formal education during 2015.
The figure is lower than last year's, which recorded 24.1 per cent of Canberrans were taking part in formal educational, but remains the highest proportion of residents enrolled in any state or territory.
One of the highest boosts was in teenage numbers, with 90.3 per cent of people between the ages of 15 and 19 enrolled in formal education, compared with 81.1 per cent in 2014.
That equated to a rise of about 1200 teenagers in the ACT taking part in some form of formalised education since 2014, taking the total number up to about 20,500 people in that age bracket.
Vocational education and training picked up most of the gains, with an estimated 10,800 people working on some form of advanced diploma or certificate through a TAFE-equivalent institute.
However, statisticians warned the ACT figures had a greater margin of error than any other jurisdiction due to its low population and sample size, at almost three times the relative standard of error index of NSW.
The annual Education and Work data has fluctuated in the ACT more than any other state or territory, but its margin of 5.8 per cent is still well below the 25 per cent rate at which statistics can be considered to be vulnerable to "high sampling error".
This year's student numbers went in the opposite direction of most of 2014's figures. While more postdoctoral and bachelor students responded to 2014's survey than in 2013, their numbers dropped again in 2015.
Nationally, 100,000 more Australians were enrolled in education during 2015 compared with 2014.
Of the 3 million people enrolled, 1.2 million were in their late teens and another 718,800 were in their early twenties.
The survey's findings were made public just before an international study ranked Canberra as the 17th best student city in the world.
The capital beat Brisbane, Adelaide and even New York to reach its top 20 place, due mainly to the diversity of its student population.
