The double demerits will be in place from Friday morning until midnight Monday, October 3.
Double demerit points will apply on speeding and seatbelt offences, mobile phone use while driving, driving with passengers in a part of the vehicle not designed to carry them and riding a motorcycle without a helmet, among other Schedule 1 offences
After seven road fatalities in the ACT this year, Officer-in-Charge of Traffic Operations, acting station sergeant Ken Hedges said he did not want his officers to be "knocking on your family's door to tell them you aren't coming home.
"No text message or phone call is worth somebody's life," he said.
"If you are travelling interstate, don't drive when fatigued and remember to take regular rest breaks every two hours."
