With placards lining the streets, mailboxes overflowing with leaflets and ads everywhere you look, it would seem hard to forget that Saturday is ACT election day.

But for voters who might have missed it, the ACT Electoral Commission is giving a gentle reminder in the form of a text message telling them their electorate with a link to the commission's website.
Every voter who provided their mobile number when they enrolled can expect a text if they haven't pre-polled or registered for a postal vote, electoral commissioner Phillip Green said.
It's the first time the commission has resorted to text messages, but it's not the only new-fangled way the commission is prompting voters.
Canberrans can expect to see advertising on Google, Facebook and even Spotify.
"It's just one part of the mix of things we're doing to tell people about the election for people who might not look at traditional media," Mr Green said.
"We've followed the example of other electoral commissions who have had very little criticism [of sending text messages].
"Every election we get people who say 'I didn't know it was on' when we send out the failure to vote notices."
The texts began with voters in the electorate of Yerrabi last Friday. Of the 26,000 sent, the commission received about 30 replies, Mr Green said.
"Some said 'thanks', another said 'thank you my robot friend'," he said.
"It's a very cheap way of reaching people, much cheaper than mailing… we don't want to overload people."
And with memories of the Mediscare text scandal fresh after the federal election, Mr Green said the commission was being careful to ensure voters were aware the ACT texts were authorised.
"A few people thought it was a political message so we made this week's messages quite clear it's from us," he said.
While the traditional mailout election guides have arrived in letter boxes this week, Mr Green said the commission won't be sending emails.
