The ACT government has called for tenders for design and feasibility for eight "micro-parks" in Canberra.

It's looking to build six permanent and two temporary micro-parks in commercial, higher density areas in Civic, Braddon, town and group centres and light industrial areas.
Tender documents said mico-parks were the smallest type of park in the hierarchy of parks recognised in the ACT, located in high-density areas where there is a lack of amenity and high pedestrian traffic.
The locations of the proposed parks will be picked through the feasibility study. The call comes after the government ran a competition for a pop-up park at Garema Place last year.
The winning tenderer is expected to budget $100,000 for each micro-park.
Preliminary consultation identified more than 30 possible priority locations, including three locations on Mort Street in Braddon, four locations in Tuggeranong, three in Gungahlin and five locations in Belconnen.
The priority locations will be shortlisted to 12 at the end the first stage and then eight in the second stage. Stage two will also pick the six permanent locations and the two temporary locations.
Tender documents said the temporary locations would be either built for five years or be movable so they were easily transportable and installed in different locations.
The documents said the aim of the project was to investigate and identify suitable sites for the parks and identify the best solutions for each location before the design stage as well as develop concept designs and cost estimates.
The government also wants to develop a micro park guide for future micro-parks.
"A micro park should feel secure, comfortable, interesting and calming," tender documents said.
"It should provide opportunities for outdoor relaxation, activation, play, conversation, connection, pause,
people watching, sitting, resting, reading, meeting and planned and incidental socialising."
Synthetic or natural grass, community art, furniture, trees, retaining walls or screens, bicycle parking and signage or graphics are suggested as ideas for a micro-park.
Interactive or play elements and Wi-Fi access is also suggested.
Work will be done in three stages, site selection, site-specific study and pre-design recommendations and design stage and micro park guide. Stage one is predicted to start in January-February and stage three is expected to be completed between March-May.
