ACT senator Katy Gallagher says she is happy to take on any role in the federal opposition's frontbench, crediting local politics for giving her "a taste of everything".

The Labor senator and former Chief Minister, whose latest promotion was announced by Labor leader Bill Shorten on Friday, said her former career in the ACT government had prepared her for a number of possible portfolios.
Senator Gallagher is not expected to find out her new responsibilities until after the next Labor caucus meeting in Canberra on Tuesday, October 13.
She will fill one of two frontbench vacancies left by the retirement of Bernie Ripoll and Senator Jan McLucas. Member for Rankin, Jim Chalmers will fill the other.
"I'll do whatever is asked of me, that's what I did when [former ACT Chief Minister] Jon Stanhope appointed me so, its always worked out pretty well," she said on ABC radio Monday morning.
"I think one of the great things about being trained up in ACT politics is you get a taste of a bit of everything. I know a little about a lot of things.
"I guess this job will mean I need to know more about less things but, look, I'm happy to do anything, I really am. It doesn't worry me at all."
The two vacancies open up financial services, superannuation, sport, assistant for small business matters, housing and homelessness and mental health however, there has been speculation of a portfolio reshuffle.
Ms Gallagher said she didn't know whether there would be a reshuffle or not.
"I don't know, to be honest. I have no idea," she said.
"I think there's speculation that only Bill [Shorten] can answer. We'll wait and see what he asks me to do.
"I'm sure it will be fine whatever I get."
