ACT Policing will be out in force over the holiday period as they target dangerous driving on the region's roads.

On Tuesday they kicked-off their holiday blitz in a joint operation with NSW Police on the Kings Highway just outside of Queanbeyan.
Sergeant Marcus Boorman from ACT Policing said he hoped the force's increased visibility over the period would act as a deterrent to dangerous drivers.
"My message to drivers is just to slow down out there over the holidays," he said.
"One death on the roads is too many."
So far over the holidays ACT Policing had arrested 12 people for drink driving, 10 people for driving under the influence of drugs and had issued about 150 traffic infringement notices, Sergeant Boorman said.
"One driver was arrested after going 176 kilometres per hour in an 80 kilometres per hour zone.
"That speed is just unacceptable."
During the Christmas period until New Year's Day, ACT Policing will be enforcing double demerits for certain traffic offences.
All speed and seatbelt offences, the use of a mobile phone while driving, driving with a passenger in or on part of the vehicle not designed to carry passengers or goods, and riding a motorbike without a helmet will incur double demerit points.
All other offences will get one extra demerit point.
Sergeant Boorman also had a simple message for anyone thinking about drinking before getting behind the wheel.
"It's simple. If you have been drinking, just don't drive," he said.
Inspector Mick Handley from the Monaro Local Area Command said drug testing and random breath testing would be a particular focus for police.
"Slow down out there and have regard for other people on the road," he said.
"Don't drive if you have had a big night on the drink and if you're feeling tired stop for a break.
"Just be careful on the road."
On Tuesday ACT Policing also issued a message of thanks to members of the public who came forward with information after an alleged hit and run on Wednesday, December 20.
Police alleged that one man had been struck by a Landcruiser ute as he crossed Mentone View off Tharwa Drive about 9.40pm.
They have subsequently found the vehicle and identified the driver as an 18-year-old man from the Canberra suburb of Monash.
The driver will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date.
