About 4:10am an unsuccessful attempt was made to steal the ATM at Kaleen shops, which caused damage to both the ATM and the shopping centre.
Police suggested an earlier incident at the Canberra Centre could be related to the ram raid.
Three men tried to break into a pay station at a centre car park about 3:10am. The men damaged the pay station but were unsuccessful in trying to break into it.
The men left the Canberra Centre in a maroon Holden Commodore with stolen plates, one a Victorian plate reading ZWI584 and the other an ACT plate reading YEJ07R.
Police are requesting that any witnesses, anyone with dash cam footage or anyone with information please come forward.
