ACTEW confirmed on Friday that Ian Carmody had left the organisation.
The corporation's managing director, Mark Sullivan, departed earlier this month in what was described as a "mutual decision'' by him and the board. The details of Mr Sullivan's departure are covered by a contractual confidentiality clause.
A permanent replacement is yet to be found for ACTEW chairman John Mackay, who quit last year.
Mr Carmody was appointed deputy chief executive of ACTEW in February last year after working on a range of projects for the organisation, including the construction of the Enlarged Cotter Dam and Murrumbidgee to Googong Water Transfer Pipeline.
"Ian's contribution to the organisation must be acknowledged,'' an ACTEW spokeswoman said.
"Ian first joined the organisation back in 2009 working as Director of Water Security Operations and played an integral role on the major projects being undertaken at that time. Ian was later responsible for implementing a business transformation process, which continues today."
Former ActewAGL chief financial officer John Knox is acting chief executive officer of ACTEW. Long-time ACTEW director Michael Easson has been acting chairman.
