Water levels at Cotter Dam have swelled to the highest they have ever been, putting the ACT in good stead ahead of the hottest weeks of summer and a dry 2015.

Combined water storage levels at the ACT's four dams hit 83 per cent of their combined 278-gigalitre capacity this week.
That is up from 75 per cent in January last year, ACTEW Water figures show.
The territory has had 64.2 millimetres of rain this month, which is already above January's average of 60 millimetres.
But ACTEW Water spokeswoman Angie Drake said it would take time for recent downpours to impact on dam levels, depending on factors including how dry the surrounding land was.
"As the hottest part of the summer approaches, our daily consumption levels are likely to continue to increase," Ms Drake said.
"This rain serves to keep our gardens healthy, and somewhat softens the hit to our catchments that is likely to occur when the weather warms up over coming weeks."
Corin Dam hit 53 per cent of capacity this week, while Bendora Dam was at 94 per cent.
Googong was the only dam to hit 100 per cent and spill.
The water level hit 82 per cent at the enlarged Cotter Dam, which continues to fill more rapidly than forecast.
The dam could hold only 4 gigalitres of water before a $409-million upgrade, completed in 2013, upped its capacity to 76 gigalitres.
"We've never held this much water in the ACT before, so it's very exciting," Ms Drake said.
"We anticipated it would take two to five years to fill but we're definitely way ahead of schedule."
The expansion was designed to boost Canberra's water security following the devastating 2006 to 2010 drought, which brought widespread water restrictions.
"We can never say never [to future water restrictions], but we can say we've secured water for generations," Ms Drake said.
"It's supposed to be a really dry year, so it's put us in good stead."
