The sole witness to an alleged knifepoint robbery has retreated from an earlier statement, saying the night was a "big blur" and that police "put words in my mouth".

The witness was giving evidence in the trial of his friend, Steven James Thompson, 38, in the ACT Supreme Court.
Thompson is accused of putting a knife to the throat of a woman, telling her to hand over her jewellery, and sign over her car to him.
It is alleged he threatened to rip her daughter's eyes out and make her dig a grave for the body.
The accused and the complainant met in December last year, and spent several days taking the drug ice together at the woman's home.
Thompson is accused of breaking into the house next door and stealing property, loading it into the woman's car.
They then drove to the home of one of Thompson's friends, where the accused is said to have robbed the woman.
The friend, who was in the home at the time, gave a statement about the night to police last month.
He said he had seen Thompson holding the knife to the woman's throat and face.
He is also recorded as telling police that Thompson threatened to "carve" the woman up if she didn't hand over the car.
But the witness retreated from aspects of that statement on Monday, telling the court he had only seen Thompson hold the knife towards her face, and never heard him threaten to carve the woman up.
He said the jewellery was handed over because the woman owed Thompson money for drugs, and that the accused had purchased the car from her.
Crown prosecutor Sam McLaughlin asked the witness about the discrepancies in his evidence to court and statement on Monday.
The witness replied that police had "put words in my mouth", that he was under the influence of medication, and had a poor memory.
He said he had schizophrenia and spent much of his life struggling to work out what was and wasn't real.
Mr McLaughlin asked the witness why he had signed a statement that did not reflect the conversation he had with police.
The witness responded:
"I can hardly f---ing read mate. I'm illiterate."
"I just glanced over and signed it. I put trust in an officer of the law not to screw me over."
The trial continues before Justice Hilary Penfold on Tuesday.
