The alleged victim of a knifepoint robbery at Haig Park joined a martial arts club and wanted to buy nunchucks to avoid a repeat of the incident, a court has heard.

Ivan Stephen Djerke, 41, of Gordon, is accused of robbing the man with a knife after the alleged victim withdrew money from an ATM and went to McDonald's in March last year.
But defence counsel James Stewart appearing for Mr Djerke, who has pleaded not guilty to aggravated robbery, has told a jury the man was actually trying to buy methamphetamine, or ice, from his client.
Giving evidence at the ACT Supreme Court on Tuesday, the alleged victim denied a suggestion from Mr Stewart that he asked Mr Djerke for ice in the early hours of March 3 last year.
"You ask him if he has got the gear and he says yes and you give him $150," Mr Stewart said.
The alleged victim denied this, saying Mr Djerke didn't have ice with him that night.
He also rejected a suggestion from Mr Stewart that he went home after buying what he thought was ice from Mr Djerke, and when finding it was sugar, tried to buy drugs again later.
Explaining two payments to a martial arts club after the alleged robbery, the alleged victim said he wanted to buy nunchucks.
"What happened to me, I wasn't going to get caught again," he said.
He also denied that after Mr Djerke gave him sugar instead of ice, he later sold a dog belonging to the accused man's daughter for repayment.
The alleged victim's partner told the jury Mr Djerke's daughter had stayed with them before the robbery, but when she was asked to leave after the incident, her dog was removed from the flat.
Mr Stewart has told jurors there was no robbery but a voluntary transaction.
The trial continues on Wednesday.
