The general knowledge game show, which is based on the British show of the same name, sees contestants go up against the show's "Chasers" to win cash prizes.
Father of six Steve Harper from Fadden won $12,500 this week when his team successfully beat one of the Chasers, The Governess, who is the second-ranked female quiz champion in the world.
"We were lucky she got one wrong and we got one right. And we came out on top," said Steve.
The sixty-year-old retired army major, who has six children ranging from 12 to 32, said the prize money wasn't going towards anything special.
"With three teenagers it all disappears into the sand," he said.
Steve's no stranger to quiz shows, having been on 18 episodes of Sale of the Century
"I'm a bit of a tragic when it comes to these things," he said.
Strangely enough, the other Canberra winner Steve Wall, who was one of the first to win on the Australian version of the show, shares the same first name and also works in the military.
