The Education Directorate offered the transportables to parents at a school meeting last week after complaints about year 3 students learning in the library.

As well, the community hall was being used as a teaching space, leaving the Aranda Primary Parents and Citizens without a place to meet.

"[This has] been well received, it's an excellent outcome," Aranda Primary Parents and Citizens president Petra Cole said.

The school has about 620 students, up 1.9 per cent on 2016, and is nearing its projected capacity of 625.

Principal Phil Gray wrote to parents earlier this year: "There are no spare spaces left in the school.

"Unfortunately this has led to my decision to use our library and the community room as classrooms this year."

The two demountables will be ready for the 2018 school year.

An Education Directorate spokesman said they were part of a longer-term strategy at dealing with an increase in enrolments, which could also include changing the priority enrolment area catchment.

"The directorate has been working with the school to address the longer term needs," a spokeswoman said earlier this year.
