The ACT government says the removal of asbestos from a road work site in Canberra has not endangered the health of passing commuters.

Workers decked out in protective suits were spotted at the Monaro Highway and Pialligo Avenue intersection on Monday by passing drivers.
A Territory and Municipal Services spokesman said a a licensed asbestos removalist removed bonded asbestos pipes from the area as part of "routine activity".
"There are no safety concerns for the passing public," he said.
"The asbestos piping was bagged and removed from the site and disposed of consistent with the safe working methods in use by the contractor throughout the project."
