According to APM PriceFinder the weekend's clearance rate was 57.9 per cent with 33 properties sold under the hammer.
Luton Property director Richard Luton said Canberra had a far "stronger spring auction season than usual".
"Ten of the 16 auctions we listed this weekend were sold," he said. "But it has been a strong season and we are happy with how it all went."
Luton agent Jeremy Maher was pleased to see five registered bidders go head to head at the 1pm auction of 5 Salcole Street in Casey.
"The double-storey property sold for $793,000 which was above the reserve," he said. "The vendor and new owners were really pleased."
Fellow Luton agent Jason Roses said the number of bidders was unusual for Casey, but demonstrated interest particularly from families in the Gungahlin area.
"The couple that bought the four-bedroom home were looking to start a family, but other four bidders were all families," he said.
"There were huge numbers through the open houses because it was so beautifully finished inside and had lots of the features families look for."
The two-storey home on an elevated 630-square metre block has outstanding views, spacious living and alfresco dining areas in custom-designed home with five-star energy efficiency rating.
"The home was less than 12 months old and there wasn't a scratch on it which is what made it so popular," Mr Roses said.
There were two bidders battling it out for a five-bedroom home at 45 Springvale Drive, Weetangera.
"It's a home on a big block with multiple living areas, huge living and dining, a rumpus room as well as having two master suites," she said.
"It is going on the market now at a price of $975,000. We are negotiating with buyers now who weren't financially ready on the day but we are looking to sell."
