A lot of dogs excitedly run to the door when the doorbell rings, but for Daphne the schnauzer poodle cross, it's her job.

Her owner, Amanda Sullivan, can't hear the bell and it's up to Daphne to let her know someone's there.
Ms Sullivan was born deaf and diagnosed when she was one. Her mother knew something was wrong but didn't know what it was.
"I was diagnosed as severe to profoundly deaf," Ms Sullivan said through an interpreter.
"We didn't know at the time, but we later found out it was a genetic deafness in my family."
Daphne is one of more than 560 dogs that is helping Australians who suffer from some form of hearing loss with their everyday lives. One in six Australians suffer from some form of hearing loss.
In Ms Sullivan's family it affected four out of seven siblings.
"There are some barriers, being a deaf person, it depends where you are," she said.
"When I meet a new face there's always difficulty depending on whether or not I'm able to lip read them or whether or not that person is willing to take the time to work out how best we can communicate."
Ms Sullivan, who has five children, said she relied heavily on them for assistance for simple task like alerting her when the doorbell rings or when the washing machine finished it cycle.
"Two of my children still live at home with me, and they made me realise that they have a huge responsibility living with a deaf mum, especially Tristan my youngest," she said.
"I felt like it was time, that I can't cope without having my own independence and not having to reply on my children for those sort of alerts."
Before she had children, Ms Sullivan met a lady who had a hearing dog.
"I thought wow, the dog is so responsive to things like the door or any important sounds and I thought 'I want one'," she said.
"At that time I was starting a family and thought it was really important for me to really look after my family, to have that assistance dog, but I already had a dog at the time and you need to make sure you that you don't have any dogs."
She was introduced to 18-month-old Daphne after applying for an Australian Lions Hearing Dog with the sponsorship of Woden Lions Club.
"I'm amazed with her so far about what she's like in my home, what she's like in public. It's so different, she's so well controlled in the public situations."
Just like Guide Dogs, hearing dogs can accompany their owners inside shopping centres and on public transport.
Trainer Jo Gale from the Australian Lions Hearing Dog said hearing dogs like Daphne were trained to identify sounds and alert their owner.
"Daphne communicates by touch so she will first hear the sound and then she'll check it before finding Amanda and tapping her and taking her to the sound," Ms Gale said.
"Except for the smoke alarms, she has been trained to touch Amanda and then immediately drop."
Ms Gale said she found that hearing dogs gave people with hearing loss independence in the community, confidence and security.
She said training a hearing dog could take up to eight months. The cost of fully trained dog is $35,000.
In 2017, 19 Australians received trained hearing dogs marking the largest annual delivery in 10 years.
Trainers continue to check up on the dogs to make sure they are still responsive to the sounds.
