Australian of the Year finalists from all of the states and territories arrived at Parliament House on Saturday to attend a morning tea hosted by Prime Minister Tony Abbott.

The luncheon included a speech from 2013's Australian of the Year, Ita Buttrose, with other notable Australians including cricket superstar Adam Gilchrist all in attendance.

The finalists from the ACT included neonatal specialist Associate Professor Zsuzsoka Kecskes who developed an award-winning web-based service that allows parents to keep an eye on their babies when they are unable to be at hospital.

Celebrations are to continue on into the night with the official awards announcement to begin at 6pm.
