Australian country singer and song-writer Jasmine Rae has earned an ARIA Nomination for Best Country Album in 2013, four Golden Guitar nods and five of her singles have topped the Australian country singles charts.

Not bad for a young artist who has also been named the 2014 CMC female artist of the year.
"The last few years have been awesome, actually," Rae says. "I think with my last record I had a lot of support and the songs on there were very much more personal and what I always wanted to make so the fact people were supportive kind of inspired me."
Rae is hoping the fans will continue to show their support when her new album, Heartbeat, is released mid-May. Recorded in Nashville with Grammy-winning producer Luke Wooten, it will be a more uplifting and optimistic album.
"I am not saying I was very negative in the past but it is much more positive than anything I have done before," says Rae. "It's kind of about the light at the end of the tunnel after doubting yourself for a while and just feeling more confident about yourself and the decisions you make in your life and who you are as a person."
"The most important thing to me is to make music that is honest and that says real things about real people - sonically there is like gospel music on this record and some really cool different things that I haven't done previously."
"I still feel that my music has a bit more of a soul and blues influence to it and it is very much my own stamp on country music."
Rae, from the suburbs of Melbourne, is looking forward to playing the new songs live and sharing with her audience the stories that have thrilled her from a young age.
"None of my friends like country music but my parents put on lots of different CDs and I like lots of music but country always really stood out for me – especially a Dolly Parton record that I loved with its in-depth stories and the way it takes you on a whole journey in three minutes."
"While there is a unique Australian sound in country music in that artists sing about the land and the Australian situation, my songs are typically personal and more about life situations and not necessarily about where you are."
