Queanbeyan public servant Jenny Staniforth remembers her small bedroom being plastered in Bay City Rollers posters (bass player Alan Longmuir was her favourite) and sewing a pair of tartan flares as part of a teenage obsession with the Scottish pop group.
Jenny was one of hundreds of former BCR obsessives who converged on the Southern Cross Club last week for a trip down memory lane.
Lead singer Les McKeown was in town playing all the old hits including Jenny's favourites Give a Little Love and Saturday Night.
"My younger sister and I would sit in our rooms and just play those records for hours and hours," Jenny recalled.
"Alan was my favourite and Derek [Longmuir, the drummer] was hers."
It was the third time Jenny had seen the Bay City Rollers live in Canberra.
The first was at Canberra Theatre in 1975 - "the girls were in hysterics, we damaged the theatre so badly they didn't let any big music acts in there for a while after that!"
The second was at the Weston Club in the early 1990s, where she chased the band's bus out of the club driveway, banging on the windows the entire time.
"Yes we are definitely hardcore Bay City Rollers fans," she laughed.
"The concerts are just a great walk down memory lane."
We hear that while there was a minor glitch with the promoter's VIP package at the recent concert, the Southern Cross Club stepped in and happily fed hungry Bay City Rollers fans before the show.
