The open day will be at 9.30am to 1.30pm adjacent to the Brindabella Business Park on the Queanbeyan side - NOT at the terminal.
Parking will be off Brindabella Circuit and Molonglo Drive. Follow the signs.
Travellers catching flights or people collecting passengers from the terminal should leave extra time on Sunday to account for the additional traffic that will be in the area.
And don't forget daylight saving ends on Sunday, so turn your clocks back one hour at 3am or before going to bed on Saturday.
Canberra Airport managing director Stephen Byron said he had an assurance from Roads ACT that there would be no work being done on the Majura Parkway on Sunday to help traffic flows.
Mr Byron expected more than 10,000 people to attend the open day.
"This is a great opportunity to share the fun of aviation with the community," he said.
At the open day, there will be a display by the RAAF Roulettes (at 11.30am) and three displays by the Red Baron.
On display will be light aircraft, war birds, Virgin Australia B737 800, RAAF operational aircraft, Caribou, Catalina, C47, Qantas 737 800 , Qantas 717 and the RAAF hot air balloon.
There will also be food and beverage stores, the Gecko Gang, jumping castle, roving entertainment and displays by organisations including Singapore Airlines, the Royal Flying Doctor Service and air force cadets.
Among the aircraft on display will be a restored Lockheed Super Constellation - affectionately known as "Connie" - used by the United States Air Force in Europe in the 1950s.
Sydney man Bob De La Hunty, who flew the restored Connie to Australia from the US in 1996, said it was believed Elvis Presley was flown on the plane to Germany during his military service.
"We can hear him singing some nights," he said.
The plane is now housed at Albion Park by the Historical Aircraft Restoration Society and will be flown to Canberra on Saturday in readiness for Sunday's event, along with a Caribou and Catalina aircraft.
Connie was rescued from a scrapyard in the desert of Tucson, Arizona when members of the society were searching for spare parts for another aircraft.
What followed was an amazing rescue operation spanning six years and 16,000 manhours.
Teams of volunteers would fly from Australia to the US to work on the plane, also raising $800,000 in cash and $1.2 million in sponsorship.
Mr De La Hunty flew Connie to Australia in an operation taking close to 40 hours making stops at San Francisco Bay, Honolulu, Pago Pago and Fiji along the way.
"She's beautiful to fly, very stable," he said.
Qantas used the Super Constellations to pioneer its long-haul passenger trips and Connie is painted in the Qantas colours as a tribute.
