The Canberra electronic music impresarios have been selected to perform as part of the pre-match entertainment before kick off of the game at the MCG on June 6.
Hyde and bandmate Reuben Styles will be part of a "spectacular light show'' ahead of Origin's return to the heartland of AFL.
As one wag commented, following the dearth of Canberra Raiders picked for the big game in recent years, at least there wil be some ACT representation assured for the opening match.
NRL chief commercial officer Andrew Abdo said, “We have a very special pre-game show planned for the MCG and Peking Duk will showcase it spectacularly.
“Origin is the biggest sporting rivalry in the country and the entertainment will be a great lead-in to a series which is built on passion and energy.
“There is nothing like Origin when it comes to on-field intensity and we certainly aim to ensure the night-time spectacular complements the game itself.”
ARIA-Award winners Peking Duk, the former Dickson College students who have reached 180 million streams globally to date, have just launched their new single Fire, from their latest project Reprisal.
After visiting the MCG, Adam Hyde said the performance would be the duo’s biggest yet.
“It feels exhilarating just standing here and looking around,” Hyde said. “I can already feel the excitement and the crowd roaring.
“We’re looking forward to delivering a great show.”
