His film Daniel De Luca, which was selected from 100 short films, tells the story of a man with autism and the simple things that others could do to make his life a happy and productive one.

"This is a film I made to support Amaze Knowledge, a company that helps disabled people especially with a spectrum disorder to work and find employment and to educate those employers to work with that condition," he said.

Daniel De Luca stars actor Dallas Bland as the main character.

Christian will stay in Hollywood for six weeks where he will learn from other Australians in the industry who have had success in the United States.

"Face to face time is so valuable in this industry because you get to build a relationship with the person, and not just be another email to be ignored."

But Christian said he won't let the flashy lights of Hollywood lure him away from his home town.

"I want to make all of my films in Australia, Canberra if possible. I think moving to the States to pursue a career in film is less and less relevant these days," he said.

While he's away, Christian will also be preparing for the launch of his feature film, Me and My Mates vs the Zombie Apocalypse which is expected in Australian cinemas in June or July this year.

The flick was filmed in January 2014 in Civic and Watson and stars Alex Williamson, Greg Fleet, and Jim Jefferies,
