The Canberra Greyhound Racing Club is eyeing a temporary move to Goulburn while it fights the ACT's incoming ban on the sport.

Greyhound racing will be illegal in the territory after April 30, with those caught facing fines of up to $15,000 or a year in jail.
The club's final Canberra Cup will be held over the last two weekends of April.
And while it has applied for an injunction on the ban, the club will shift its races to Goulburn if that fails, club spokesman Kel Watt said.
"We want to emphasise that's a temporary move," Mr Watt said. "Our primary focus is to come back to Canberra."
However the club is also looking to build a training facility at the thoroughbred racing track in Queanbeyan so trainers are not forced to move out of the ACT.
Mr Watt said they were drawing up plans for the facility with "bipartisan" support from the NSW government and Opposition.
He would not state how much financial support they had been promised from the NSW government.
However Mr Watt said NSW had committed to a $1.2 million upgrade of the lights at the Goulburn track as part of the negotiations to temporarily relocate the Canberra club.
Discussions are also continuing about building a racing track in Queanbeyan, however Mr Watt said they would only pursue that further "if and when all legal and political options have been exhausted".
"People have said why don't you you just pack up your bags and move? Well the national industry wants to see the ACT survive," Mr Watt said.
"Opponents of the industry saw us as low-hanging fruit.They'll then turn their attention to Tasmania and the Northern Territory if we pack up and move. If we can hold back the tide that's a positive thing."
Mr Watt said it would also be "pointless" building a new track in Queanbeyan if the club managed to overturn the ACT ban.
ACT Racing Minister Gordon Ramsay was contacted for comment. His spokesman encouraged members of the racing industry effected by the ban to contact the transition taskforce as soon as possible.
The Canberra Liberals spokesman for racing and gaming Mark Parton praised the "resilience" of the industry.
"Labor and the Greens believed that the Canberra Greyhound Racing Club would just roll over but they will leave no stone unturned to remain here in their home in Canberra," Mr Parton said.
"ACT Labor remain the only branch of the Labor party in Australia to not support the greyhound racing industry and that is most obvious with the bipartisan support in NSW for the Club's efforts to retain the ACT industry and to construct new training facilities in Queanbeyan just 3.8 kilometres from its current site."
